Abstract
:
The study aimed to identify the differences between juvenile delinquents and Non delinquents in Cognitive Style (Reflection / Impulsive) and self-concept. The study sample consisted of (120) juvenile ,(60) of them Non delinquents from social observation house in Jeddah and (60) Normal juvenile from Jeddah secondary school, and Omar bin Omia preparatory in Jeddah. The researcher used in this study, comparative descriptive approach for comparison between juvenile delinquents and Non delinquents in Cognitive Style (Reflection/ Impulsive)and self-concept. The researcher used Matching Familiar Figures Test (MFFT) 20 to measure Cognitive Style ( Reflection/ Impulsive ) prepared by Hamdi Faramawi (1985). And used to measure Self-Concept ( William Fitts Scale ) translation Safwat Faraj and Sohar Kamel (1985). and Questionnaire to collect data prepared by the researcher. To analyze the results, the researcher used: T-test for significant differences between the averages. And Pearson's correlation coefficient. The study found that: There are significant differences between the delinquents and Non delinquents at the mean time of latency of response in the side of the non delinquents. Also There are significant differences between the Normal delinquents and juvenile delinquents in mean the number of errors in the side of delinquents. And There are significant differences between the Non delinquents and delinquents in mean ( the total degree of Self-Concept , Physical self-concept, Family self-concept, Personal self-concept, social self-concept ). There is no statistically significant differences between Non delinquents and delinquents in moral self-concept. In the light of the results of the study the researcher recommends the following: increasing the attention to the subject of self-concept of Youth, through the Ministry of Education to take the necessary measures to raise the level of their self-concept, and create the appropriate atmosphere to achieve this goal so as not to lead astray. Also Working on the training of juvenile delinquents on the wait-method knowledge and research the alternatives available to them to solve the problem they face and not to rush in the issuance of the response.
