Abstract
:
This study explores the start of activities of European travelers to Arabian Peninsula mentioning the types of these trips these were for different purpose some were political others were scientific medical intelligence gathering commercial or simple pleasure trips The writing of these travelers vary according to the purpose of the trip .this resulted in different levels of accuracy and subjectivity in their wittings Despite these difference the travelers written accounts and considered to be one of the most travelers who reached the Arabian Peninsula such as Burkahart , who thought that it is a small city, others like Karstain Nibore did not know its name . Until Muhammed Ali Pasha,s trip to Asir in 1934 whose included beside the army others such as physicians and pharmacists from France and Italy , it was unknown to the outside world .They are the first who added Asir region to the list of discovered places . this strud focused on the analysis of the books which was written by those western travelers who visited Asir region between 1934 and 1950 and comparing them with the narration giving by Arab historians of that time .In addition . this study explores the biography of those travelers and their traveling road maps , their financial source . motives and real objectives through their writings the findings of this study are that it explored and analyzed different and important aspects of Asir regain such as political economical ,social and urban areas ( architectural ) through the travelers ' perspective .
