Abstract
:
This study is about the Abbasid Caliphate military strategy in the region of Al-Bata'ih in south of Iraq which was a place for chaos and instability lead by leaders from different races and doctrines in the 3rd century Higri of the Abbasid Governance. The geographical features of south Iraq were in favor of their rebellion especially the region of (Al-Bata'ih )which located between Al-Basra and Wasit, The region geographically is low, full of stagnant waters in addition to forests of reeds and sedge. There are no roads but only boats can cross. As a river navigation link between the gulf and Baghdad , its strategically important region that helped citizens to rebelling against Abbasid Caliphate Trading . Zinj and Zut movements were opposing so as to improve their economic and social situation. The rebellion especially hurt Al-Basra and Iraq. Rebels cut the internal navigation lines in Iraq , dominated the trading road between Al-Basra and Baghdad. Because the road is dangerous, Abbasid Army made an strategy to put an end to rebellion in Al-Bata'ih. The army strategy annihilated the rebel movements of Zut and zinj . This thesis under title (The military strategy of Abbasid Caliphate in Al-Bata'ih region ) the movements of Zut 205-219 H -820-834 G , and Zinj movement 255-270 H -869-883 G . The study also discussed the military strategy, aims, and methods which used in battlefield. The study explained the economic and geographic importance of Al-Bata'ih region and the general strategy before searching in the Prophet and Rashidi eras, and umayyad era and the beginning of Abbasid era, Giving definition about Zinj and Zut and their rebellion against Abbasid and the military strategy against them how did they come to Islamic world the strategies.
