Abstract
:
This study handles the art of Malahin according to data and information provided by Linguistic Communication Theory through adopting the descriptive analytic approach. This study aims to explore the art of “Malahin” as being one of the components of arts available in our Arabic heritage. Moreover, the study aims to describe the indicative relationships through elements of communication between the sender and receiver; the extent of adequacy of indicative balance and linguistic reservoir in understanding the method of Malahin and deciphering so. The study is divided into an introduction, four chapters, and conclusion. In the “Introduction” section, it presents a cognitive study to a number of concepts such as indicative adequacy, communication adequacy, Linguistic Communication Theory and Malahin. Chapter I is entitled “Linguistic Heritage of Malahin”. It includes four themes as follows. The first theme handles the emergence of art of Malahin and causes of such emergence. The second theme tackles the types of Malahin. The third theme presents the most important compositions in the art of Malahin. The fourth and last theme demonstrates the various purposes of art of Malahin. Chapter II is entitled “Text Structure in the Art of Malahin”. It includes two themes. The first theme handles the structure of text in terms of plotting, while the second theme handles the effect of consideration of situation in understanding the text. Chapter III is entitled, “Elements of Indicative Communication in the Art of Malahin”. It includes three themes. The first theme tackles what is concerned about the sender. The second theme handles the future, while the third theme is concerned with the linguistic code. Chapter IV is entitled, “Indicative Relations”. It includes two themes. The first theme is concerned with Indicative Relations in vocabulary. The second theme is concerned with Indicative Relations in text. In the section of “Conclusion”, the most important findings concluded by the study are demonstracted. Among these findings is that Ibn Duraid had been the first to name and compose the art of Malahin; dependence of the art of Malahin on avoidance of employment of a certain term away from its general and widely recognized indication; indicative adequacy in the art of Malahin is correlated with linguistic and lexical communication between the sender and receiver. In addition, indicative relations have considerable influence over coherence and lucidity of text in the art of Malahin.
