Abstract
:
Large growth of population impacts mostly to spatial dimension. One would argue that the negative effects of urbanization are population growth and density in cities of developing countries. In terms, it has a significant impact on urban transport problems, and it refers to a promising planning concept, which is needed to overcome such issues. One considered concept in urban planning is Transit Oriented Development (TOD). The TOD brings two major aspects together, embracing land use and transportation in one integrated system, in which the concept is to ensure a more sustainable development in Jakarta Metropolitan Region (JMR). The main objective of this thesis is to develop the Transit Oriented Development based on spatial model to guide the transport planning of JMR toward integrated public transit system. The method of this study started from building the concept, measurement and application of TOD from the literature review, evaluating actual TOD by index using AHP weighting and GIS technique, planning potential TOD using land suitability and spatial statistical analysis, and promoting integrated TOD to guide transport planning of JMR based on spatial model. This study provided an easy path from theory to practical with case studies of JMR. In addition, this study can be helpful for urban planning and local development agencies to planning areas in a compact form and eventually sustainable manner.
