The study aimed to investigate the Habits of Mind level, in terms of Persisting, Thinking Flexibility, and Striving for Accuracy, and their impact on developing Mathematical Processes Standards " Reasoning and Proof, problem solving, Connections, Communication and Representations" for gifted children kindergarten in Jeddah city. It adopted the descriptive analytical approach "case study", the sample have been chosen intentionally according to specific conditions, and this was observed by video recording: 1- Open Observation Card, (Habits of Mind). 2- Event sampling Observation Card, (Mathematical Processes Standards), based on sub-objectives for each standard. This was carried out in conjunction with applying enrichment activities. The total time of each observation was (313) minutes (783) seconds. The data was analyzed qualitatively by the Open Coding, and Frequency Calculations. Results revealed the development of the Habits of Mind and Mathematical Processes Standards of the gifted children during the three weeks of the study, with different degrees in the development of Habits of Mind and the development of standards of each individual child. By following their development, we can predict the availability of the link between them in details. The study recommended: Increasing the awareness about the importance of programs that care for the gifted children in the kindergarten, in order to meet their mental, psychological, and social needs, including thinking skills, in habits of mind in the curricula for the children in the kindergarten, and preparing workshops and training courses for the teachers in the kindergarten; to acquaint them with the Habits of Mind of the kindergarten child, and to establish a guide on how to utilize the Habits of Mind within daily school curriculum. |
